The City of San Gabriel, "Birthplace of the Los Angeles Region," is the site of the historic San Gabriel Mission, pride of the California Missions. Founded in 1771, San Gabriel Mission is the 4th mission established in the chain of 21 California missions. The 1,400 seat San Gabriel Playhouse is one of the region's cultural treasures and the home of the San Gabriel Valley Music Theatre.San Gabriel is a community of unique homes and neighborhoods. The community has substantial commercial land and is well connected to regional transportation. As a result, the city is experiencing a significant amount of investment and new construction which is transforming many of the older business areas.
